At the heart of Shir Chadash’s Religious School lies a commitment to the enduring values of Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Chasadim.

Torah is the foundation of our teachings. Our curriculum is rooted in fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the sacred texts that have guided our people through the ages. We are dedicated to honor the rich tapestry of our past while weaving new threads for the future and empower our students with the knowledge to engage with these texts critically and joyfully, ensuring that the lessons of our ancestors continue to resonate in modern times.

Avodah is our expression of prayer and service, an exploration of our innermost selves where we connect with the Divine. Our school is a place where voices join in harmony to celebrate our faith.

We believe in the transformative power of Gemilut Chasadim, acts of loving-kindness, which our students practice both within the walls of our school and beyond, in the broader community. It is through these acts that we build bridges, connecting hearts and minds across our diverse community.

Our qualified educators and volunteers are dedicated to guiding our students on a journey to explore the depths of our traditions, celebrate the beauty of our connections and nurturing the spirituality of young souls. Our mission is to create a vibrant sanctuary of learning, enriched by the blend of creative arts and music, which are integral to our educational philosophy.

It is with great joy that I come down to this rich, historical city to join a rabbi I revere and a community I am coming to adore. I see religious school as an opportunity for Jewish children to develop their neshamot - their souls. In regular school, students develop knowledge. In our religious school, they will develop chochmah -wisdom. Learning tefillah (Jewish prayer) for instance, when taught with understanding and kavana- intention, can be a path to develop our ethical and spiritual muscles. It is my hope that our students will not only be more knowledgeable Jews, but they will be more aware, more compassionate and thoughtful human beings.

Please note: If your child is in 2nd - 6th Grade the cost of Religious School includes a 30 min individual Hebrew tutoring session for each week of Religious School.
Thank you to the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans for their generosity of annual Communal Vouchers which supports our ability to continue providing Hebrew Education here at Shir Chadash.

Class Fees:
Age 2 - PreK: $300 (meets every OTHER week)
Kindergarten - 1st Grade: $600
2nd - 6th Grade: $850
7th - 12th Grade: FREE OF CHARGE

DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITIES:
We are happy to announce that families that have joined Shir Chadash as of January 2024 and are paying at least $630 in annual dues will receive one year of FREE Religious School tuition. In addition, ALL families paying at least $1500 in annual dues will receive a discount of 30% in Religious School tuition. Furthermore, every subsequent child registered after Student 1, qualifies for a $40 discount off of their Religious School Tuition.

* Photography Authorization: We are very proud of our students, families, teachers, and staff. In highlighting our accomplishments, we would like to be able to use photographs and videos of various activities. We communicate these accomplishments through our newsletters, website, printed material, and various media outlets such as magazines and social media including but not limited to Facebook. Please note that children are not named on the website or in social media sources.

* Medical Authorization: I permit my child to attend Shir Chadash Religious School, and release all of its officers, directors, advisors, agents and employees from any and all liability that may arise out of my child’s participation in such activity on and off-site. I hereby authorize Shir Chadash or any authorized agent thereof to call a medical provider for necessary care for my child in case of emergency and agree to pay all expenses incurred for my child.
