Adult Education/Learning

Adult Trope Class /Adult B’nai Mitzvah
Always wanted to learn how to chant Torah but haven’t had the opportunity? Learned in the past, but could use a refresher? Join Deborah Mintz Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 beginning March 5th. For those who wish to pair this with learning towards Adult B’nai Mitzvah, there will be additional study with Rabbi Linden beginning after Passover.

 

Uptown Beit Midrash
Shir Chadash brings adult learning Uptown! Join Rabbi Linden and Deborah Mintz for six sessions of text study, focused around themes of and topics in social justice. We will employ both group and traditional hevrutah (partner)learning, diving into sacred texts such as Tanach, Midrash, and Talmud, as well as contemporary texts. Come for one session, or join for all six! All levels of learning welcome. Light refreshments served.

Join Deborah Mintz for an evening of ritual, text, poetry, and song, as we prepare for Passover with a creative seder for women and girls.  Girls of all ages are encouraged to come; there will be a special activity for girls ages 3-8. 

Thanks to a generous subsidy by the Sisterhood, this event is only $10 per person. 

 A light dinner will be provided. Please RSVP by March 20th

Sex, Lies and Politics:  A Panel on Human Trafficking

Join the New Orleans Chapter of Hadassah and the Women of Shir Chadash to hear about human trafficking, from New Orleans to global human rights violations, and violence against women and children.  Panelists will include Loyola University faculty members Laura Murphy and Rae Taylor and Tulane University faculty member Tabia Tetlow.
