Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 7 pm: Panel Discussion on “Me Too Affects You Too!”

“Me Too Affects You Too” will be the focus of a panel discussion, where panelists include moderator Barbara Pailet, Sara Sands Master of Philosophy in Education, Laura Danna L.C.S.W., Lisa Donze Jacob L.C.S.W. and Kerry Murphy J.D..  Topics covered will range from college campus life, the workplace, working with children in schools, legal implications and more.  Each panelist will give a short presentation followed by Q & A.  Click HERE to register for this event and HERE for further information on our panelists.

Thursday: March 4, 2021 at 7 pm: “How to Deal With Crazy – Yours, Mine and Ours!”

“How to Deal With Crazy:  Yours, Mine and Ours” will be the subject of a talk to be given by Dr. Mark Sands This program is co-sponsored by Shir Chadash Sisterhood and Hadassah New Orleans and will be held on Zoom. Everyone is invited to attend.

Dr. Mark Sands has been a practicing child psychiatrist for thirty-six years.  He is boarded in pediatrics, psychiatry and child psychiatry.  He has worked with infants as young as six months as well as people of all ages.  He has taught multiple psychiatry fellows as well as medical students/interns and residents while on faculty at LSU School of Medicine and at Children’s Hospital.  Prior to moving to NOLA, he was on faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and practiced at Texas Children’s Hospital.  He has recently retired from Mercy Family Center where he was the Director of Psychiatry for twenty-five years.  He is chair of the JCRS Special Needs Committee and psychiatric consultant to Jewish Family Service.  Currently, he practices at Baptist Community Health Services and maintains a private practice.  Drawing on his 36 years of experience as a child and adolescent psychiatrist, he is a wellspring of user-friendly, practical advice for anyone.  He is the proud father of four young adults.

Lunch at Shir Chadash with your friends and participate in a stimulating discussion of the book Plunder: A Memoir of Family Property and Nazi Treasure by Menachem Kaiser which will be led by Karen Sher. Sunday: December 19, 2021 at 10 am: Hands on Art Program

Design your very own Challah Platter with Sisterhood at Shir Chadash on Sunday, December 19th, from 10 am – 3 pm.

SUPPLY LIST: Bring an apron you would not mind getting underglaze paint on or wear an old shirt and a water bowl of your choosing.
DESCRIPTION OF CLASS: We will be making Challah plates using 14” x 9.5” rectangular bisque platter. We will work as a group making each plate our own. A challah pattern will be provided to trace onto your ware, or you can freehand draw one. We will be using Concept underglazes for our color and a clear shiny glaze to finish. When finished, the platters will be packed for transport to be fired. Plates may be picked up at Shir Chadash on Wednesday, January 5th.
NOTE: All brushes, paint, glazes, paper towels, graphite paper, color pencils, lead pencils and sponges will be provided for every participant.
COST: $35/person for Sisterhood members; $45/person for non-Sisterhood members. Lunch is included.
CLASS SIZE: Limited to (20) twenty.
